REUNITED IN DANCE
SEGERSTROM CENTER FOR THE ARTS
On November 12th, 2022, 14 pre-eminent ballet dancers, all of whom were impacted by the Ukraine war, came together for “Reunited in Dance”, a one-night-only, extraordinary dance gala at The Segerstrom Center For The Arts.
Artistic Director Xander Parish, formerly a principal dancer at the Mariinsky Ballet, led the troupe comprised of dancers who were previously members of the most elite companies in Russia, including the Bolshoi Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet, Mikhailovsky Ballet, Stanislavsky Ballet, and others.
The performers faced many obstacles during their escape to personal and artistic freedom. When the Russian invasion of Ukraine took place, flights were canceled. The dancers had to flee Russia and Ukraine by bus or train –- and at times, travel on foot.
“On this special evening, all these artists became a single remarkable group, not just standing up for what we believe but dancing for it," commented Mr. Parish. On stage, the RID dancers’ bravery and tenacity shone as brightly as their artistry.
Baruch Gayton Productions produced a live telecast of the event, erected a 50 x 35 foot LED viewing screen on the Argyros Plaza and mapped scenic backgrounds surrounding the screen, adding another layer of atmosphere to the emotionally-charged evening. We also conceived and executed a light show throughout the Center featuring skytrackers and searchlights, which were visible for miles…
Our team is humbled and honored to have contributed to the success of this unforgettable project.
